Join the Resident Influence Committee (RIC)

We’re recruiting residents to join the Resident Influence Committee (RIC) a formal sub-committee of the emh Group Board.

This is your opportunity to make sure residents’ lived experiences directly shape how services are designed, delivered and improved across emh.

The RIC brings residents and emh leaders together to focus on the issues that matter most in everyday life across our homes and communities, including:

  • Repairs and maintenance

  • Communication

  • Accessibility

  • Safety

  • Overall service quality

Members review performance information, explore what is working well, and identify where change is needed.

Think of the RIC as a bridge.
On one side are residents’ experiences and priorities.
On the other are the operational and strategic decisions made by emh.

The RIC connects these two ensuring that resident insight is part of every conversation and every decision.

  • Reviews key performance information

  • Asks constructive questions and provides challenge

  • Helps shape practical, workable solutions

  • Makes formal recommendations to Leadership, Management Teams and Group Board

  • Monitors actions and tracks outcomes

  • Ensures residents can see what has changed as a result of their influence

If we fall short in being inclusive or representative, the RIC has a responsibility to say so and explain why to Board. Equally, when emh demonstrates that it is listening and responding well, the RIC makes that clear too.

You don’t need previous committee experience.

RIC members are supported with:

  • Training

  • Clear information

  • Ongoing guidance

  • A collaborative, respectful environment

We are looking for residents who:

  • Care about their community

  • Want to improve services for everyone

  • Can listen to different perspectives

  • Are willing to ask thoughtful questions

  • Value fairness and inclusion

We believe it is vital that all voices are heard. No single group should have disproportionate influence - diversity of experience strengthens better decision-making.

By becoming a member of the RIC, you will:

  • Have a direct line into decision-making

  • Influence real change

  • Strengthen transparency and accountability

  • Help ensure continuous improvement across emh

As a formal committee of Group Board, the RIC ensures resident voices are not only heard but meaningfully embedded in the way we work.
