Equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging

At emh, we believe everyone should feel welcome, valued, included and listened to. We are committed to creating fair and inclusive experiences for our residents, colleagues, partners and communities.

We value the differences that make people who they are and recognise that inequality and discrimination can affect people in different ways. We are committed to listening, learning and taking action to remove barriers and improve equality of opportunity and outcomes.

We stand firmly against racism, discrimination, harassment and hate in all its forms.

We also recognise the importance of creating an environment where people feel safe to speak up, be themselves and have respectful conversations about difference and inequality. Through our colleague networks, including Roots of Change, LGBTQ+, Neurodiversity, Women's and Disability networks, we listen to different experiences and continue to learn and improve.

We work across some of the most ethnically and culturally diverse communities in the UK and follow the Race Equality Code as part of our commitment to racial equality.

For us, inclusion is about more than meeting our legal responsibilities. It is about treating people with dignity, respect, kindness and fairness, and working together to create communities where everyone can feel they belong.
