Extra care enables people to live independently in their own flat or bungalow, with access to high levels of personal care, meals, domestic support, activities nursing and 24-hour security.
Our extra care homes are designed for people aged over 55. We adapt care and support to the needs and abilities of each resident.
Visitors are welcome to stay in a guest suite, if available, for a small cost.
Who's eligible
To live in an extra care home you need to:
- Be aged 55 years or older
- Require at least 3.5 hours of care and support each week
- Have a local connection to the area and/or a member of your family lives nearby.

Our extra care homes
All our extra care homes meet the standards set by the Care Quality Commission.
Oak Court offers 50 one- and two-bedroom self-contained apartments for rent, complemented by a range of communal spaces for residents to enjoy.
Each apartment includes a built-in cooker and space for a washing machine and fridge-freezer. Every room is equipped with a Lifeline pull-cord, and residents have the option to wear an emergency pendant alarm.
While most residents are over 55, we also welcome younger people with a disability. Oak Court provides:
- Communal lounge and dining room
- Hairdressing salon with two hairdressers and a beautician
- Shop run by a local shopkeeper offering papers, magazines, and other items by request
- Library and music room with piano, record player, jigsaws, and chess board
- Cinema and art and craft room
- Spa bathroom with specialist jacuzzi bath
- Scooter room
- Three laundry rooms with five washing machines and tumble dryers

The scheme provides a 24/7 onsite care service and features:

Springfields provides 65 beautiful, 24-hour supported living apartments in the heart of the National Forest for people aged 55 and over.
Springfields has one- and two-bedroom apartments, with 50 for rent and 15 for shared ownership. All apartments are completely self-contained and designed with space for wheelchairs and mobility aids.
The front entrance has a video door entry system, and each apartment also has its own secure entrance. Every home is equipped with fibre optic broadband for residents to access digital services via their chosen provider.
