Working together
Understanding when and how to pay your rent and other charges is important to help you stay on top of your finances. Below, you’ll find information about when your rent is due, the different ways to pay, and where to get support if you need it.
We know that managing payments can sometimes be difficult, and we’re here to help. If you need support keeping up with rent or service charges, please contact our Money Matters team immediately, so we can agree a realistic repayment plan and prevent the situation from escalating.
Rent is an important part of your tenancy and needs to be paid regularly and on time.
The timing of your payments will depend on whether you pay weekly or monthly:
- Weekly rent: is due every Monday for the upcoming week. Failure to pay on time will result in arrears, and we will send you reminders.
- Monthly rent: your rent should be paid one month in advance.
If we have to take you to court for unpaid rent or charges, the court order will confirm what you need to pay to keep your home.
If you don’t stick to the terms of the order, we may need to take further action, which could result in you being evicted.
We continue to pursue former residents who have left their home with rent owing. Your chances of being rehoused in future will be greatly affected if you leave an outstanding debt for rent, court costs or any repairs you need to pay for.
The simplest and most reliable way to pay your rent is by Direct Debit.
Once it’s set up, your rent will be paid automatically on the right date, so you don’t need to worry about missing a payment.
