A values‑led culture that supports our people

Our What Matters Framework guides how we work every day. It was developed in partnership with our residents. Find out more in the section below.

We employ more than a thousand colleagues and are committed to creating a positive, inclusive workplace. As an Investor in People Gold and Disability Confident Committed organisation, we listen to colleagues through our Listening Team, trade unions and consultative groups, and use the Barrett Values assessment to ensure our culture reflects what matters to our people.

Strong leadership is central to this. We invest in training for directors and managers and offer development opportunities through our Aspiring Managers programme, helping colleagues grow their skills while contributing to real organisational priorities.

What Matters Framework

The What Matters Framework was developed in partnership with our residents. It reflects the behaviours our residents and colleagues value the most. This  sets out our approach to how we communicate and engage with residents and others.

The words in the middle show what we do, and the four on the outside describe how we do it.

This framework sits alongside the ‘3Rs’ brand voice (Resolute – Respectful – Reliable), which sets the tone of how we want to come across in all our communication.

Joanne Tilley 2

“Phrases like ‘bring your whole self to work’ are easy to say, but creating a truly inclusive and psychologically-safe environment requires understanding of the culture and a commitment to change.”

Joanne Tilley, Executive Director – Corporate Services
